How to Apply for eTP

You can apply for the eTP in 3 easy steps.

Step 1: Fill in your eTP application form online

Step 2: Pay eTP fees

Step 3: Visit your nearest Embassy of Bangladesh Mission for biometric enrollment or proceed with "BGD Emergency Travel Permit" mobile App

Step 4: Collect your eTP at the embassy

  • Delivery slip you received during eTP enrollment
  • Accessible through courier

You can apply for an Emergency Travel Document (eTP) if you have lost your passport and need to travel urgently.

You can apply for an Emergency Travel Document (eTP) online through the official eTP web portal at etp.dip.gov.bd or ePP web portal epassport.gov.bd.

You can complete the entire application process through online or offline (Bangladesh Mission/ Consulate) both.

To apply for an eTP, you need to provide a copy of your air ticket/ national identity card, and travel details.

It typically takes 3 to 7 working days to process and issue the eTP.

Your e-passport status will remain the same. You can only apply for an eTP if you have lost your passport and need to travel urgently. After returning home, you will need to renew your e-passport.

You can check your eTP application status by using the "Check Application Status" option on the official eTP web portal.

The eTP is valid for 6 months from the date of issuance.

If your eTP expires, it cannot be used. You will need to apply for a new eTP.

An eTP can be used only once for a single journey.

The fee for an eTP is 15 USD.

You can pay the fee for an eTP either online or offline.

The instructions for image capturing are:

Photo Quality
  • 1-1.5 inches in width
  • Head and shoulders visible with your face taking up to 70-80% in the photo
  • Focused and clear
  • No mark or creases
  • Directly looking at the camera
  • Natural skin tone
  • Suitable brightness and contrast
Style and Lighting
  • Eyes must be open with no hair over the eyes
  • Face straight and square in front of camera, not tilted or looking over shoulder (portrait style)
  • Take a plain light-coloured background
  • No flash reflection, shadows or red eye and taken in steady lighting
  • White background is required
Glasses and Head Covers
  • Open your eyeglasses before taking the picture
  • Head coverings not allowed EXCEPT for religious reasons and facial features from chin to forehead and both side face profile must be visible
  • Any kind of headgear is not allowed

Instructions for Image Cropping:
  • Position the face in the middle square box.
  • Align eyebrows at the top of the middle square box.
  • Align eyebrows end at the two edges of the middle square box.
  • Follow the instructions using zoom and rotation.

You can apply for an eTP for multiple people using your account. However, you must provide the facial verification for each person you are applying for.
